Just over an hour’s drive from the Costa del Sol and Malaga airport will take you into another world where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside. This is where almond trees blossom in January and orange blossom scents the air in springtime. A traditional Sunday destination for Spaniards from Malaga with several good restaurants that cater for them. Prime rock climbing location and also ideal for walking, bird-watching or just relaxing by the pool.This area has recently been called the Spanish lake district and is 12 km from Alora, as well as the views over the lakes you can enjoy water sports like canoeing or swimming. Some places on the lakes are a fisherman's dream. If this seems too tame for you then you had better try either paragliding or rock climbing, courses are available, enjoy the wild side of Andalucia to the full.
