They have stunning views over Atlantic and protected dunes. The clean white sandy, almost virgin beaches of Isla Canela are highly prized by the Spaniards, but almost unknown to foreigners. Although Isla Canela is a new development, built partially in Arabic style, there is a well-organised marina, at least two four-star hotels and several restaurants. It is the beach 'resort' of the bustling border town, Ayamonte, which has ferry rides over to Portugal, a thriving fish market and all the Spanish amenities of a typical old town.
